Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review

Human Research Ethics Committee

All researchers submitting manuscripts involving human participants to the Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review (BJCMR) must comply with the ethical standards established by the appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB), Research Ethics Committee, or equivalent body at the institution where the research was conducted.

In addition, all studies involving human subjects must adhere to the principles outlined in the most recent version of the Declaration of Helsinki issued by the World Medical Association, as well as to internationally accepted ethical and regulatory standards.

Ethical Approval Statement

The Methods section of the manuscript must clearly include:

  • The name of the approving ethics committee or institutional review board

  • The approval or protocol number (when applicable)

  • A statement confirming that the study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki

Manuscripts that do not include this information may be rejected without peer review.

Informed Consent and Privacy Protection

To protect the privacy and confidentiality of research participants:

  • Manuscripts must not include identifying information such as names, initials, medical record numbers, or recognizable images.

  • Identifiable information may only be published if it is scientifically essential and if written informed consent for publication has been obtained from the participant or their legal guardian.

  • Authors must confirm in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained when applicable.

Ethical Compliance and Editorial Oversight

BJCMR reserves the right to request additional documentation related to ethical approval or informed consent at any stage of the editorial process. Failure to comply with ethical requirements may result in rejection, retraction, or other editorial actions, in accordance with COPE guidelines.
