Peer Review Process
The Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review (BJCMR) (ISSN 2965-0968) is an international, open-access journal dedicated to publishing original research and scholarly contributions across clinical medicine and health sciences. The journal adopts a rigorous, transparent, and ethical peer review process in accordance with international best practices and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as well as the requirements of DOAJ, Scopus, and PubMed Central.
General Policy
Manuscripts submitted to BJCMR must be original and must not have been previously published, except in the form of abstracts, academic theses, or conference presentations. Submissions must not be under consideration by another journal at the time of submission.
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed co-authors have made substantial contributions to the manuscript and have approved the final version submitted for review. Authors are advised to retain copies of all submitted materials.
All manuscripts are acknowledged upon receipt, and editorial decisions are communicated in a timely manner. Accepted manuscripts may undergo editorial revisions for clarity, formatting, and compliance with journal standards, without altering the scientific content.
Peer Review Policy
All submissions to BJCMR undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed, to ensure impartial and unbiased evaluation.
Authors may suggest up to four potential reviewers with appropriate expertise and may request the exclusion of up to two reviewers due to conflicts of interest, provided that a clear justification is presented. The final selection of reviewers is made exclusively by the Editors-in-Chief or designated members of the Editorial Board, who are not obliged to follow author suggestions.
Peer Review Process
Initial Editorial Assessment
Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the editorial team to assess compliance with the journal’s aims and scope, ethical standards, and basic methodological quality. At this stage, manuscripts may be rejected without external peer review if they are deemed unsuitable.
External Peer Review
Manuscripts approved for peer review are evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers are required to treat all manuscripts and associated data as confidential and must not disclose or use the information for personal or professional advantage.
If reviewers consult colleagues during the review process, confidentiality must be maintained, and the names of any contributors must be disclosed to the journal. Reviewer identities are kept confidential to the fullest extent possible.
All reviews are submitted through the journal’s secure online submission system, following the guidelines provided by the editorial office.
Editorial Decision
The final editorial decision is based on the reviewers’ reports, the scientific merit of the manuscript, its methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and its relevance to BJCMR’s scope. Possible decisions include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection.
Editorial decisions and reviewer comments are communicated exclusively to the authors through the journal’s submission system.
Timeliness and Transparency
BJCMR is committed to ensuring an efficient and timely peer review process, recognizing its importance to authors and the scientific community. Reviewers are expected to submit their evaluations within the agreed timeframe. In case of delays, reviewers are requested to notify the editorial office promptly.
Authors may track the status of their submissions at any time via the journal’s online system and may contact the editorial office for clarification when necessary.
