Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review

Authorship Criteria

The Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review (BJCMR) adopts the authorship criteria and recommendations established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), in accordance with international best practices in scientific publishing and the requirements of DOAJ, Scopus, and PubMed Central.

To qualify for authorship, individuals must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.

  2. Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final approval of the version to be published.

  4. Accountability for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet all four criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors. Such contributions must be appropriately acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, with the individual’s permission.

BJCMR requires that all authors clearly declare their individual contributions (e.g., conceptualization, methodology, data analysis, writing, supervision) at the time of submission. In addition, all authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, in accordance with the journal’s Conflict of Interest Policy.

Any changes to authorship (addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors) after submission must be justified in writing and approved by all listed authors and the editorial office, in line with COPE recommendations.
