DORA Declaration
Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review Endorses the DORA Declaration
The Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review (BJCMR) proudly announces its endorsement of the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). This commitment reflects the journal’s dedication to promoting responsible research evaluation practices and advancing a more transparent, fair, and inclusive approach to the assessment of scholarly outputs.
About DORA
The Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) was developed in 2012 during the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology in San Francisco. Its primary objective is to improve the ways in which scientific research is evaluated, encouraging the scientific community to move beyond the inappropriate use of journal-based metrics—such as the Journal Impact Factor (JIF)—and toward a broader range of qualitative and quantitative indicators.
Our Commitment
By endorsing DORA, the Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review commits to:
-
Valuing Research Quality Over Venue
Prioritizing the scientific content, methodological rigor, and relevance of research rather than relying on journal-level metrics. -
Recognizing Diverse Research Outputs
Acknowledging a wide range of scholarly contributions, including original research articles, reviews, datasets, methodological advances, and other outputs that advance knowledge in clinical medicine and health sciences. -
Using Transparent and Responsible Metrics
Supporting the responsible use of diverse metrics and qualitative indicators to assess research impact, avoiding the misuse of single quantitative measures. -
Promoting Fair and Inclusive Research Assessment
Encouraging equitable evaluation practices that recognize contributions from researchers across different disciplines, regions, and career stages.
Why This Matters
Adopting the principles of DORA represents an important step toward improving the culture of research assessment. It supports innovation, transparency, and integrity in scientific communication by ensuring that research is evaluated based on its intrinsic merit and real-world impact.
By endorsing DORA, BJCMR aligns itself with a global movement committed to more responsible and ethical research assessment practices.
Join Us
BJCMR invites authors, reviewers, editors, and readers to support and embrace the principles of DORA. Together, we can contribute to a more transparent, fair, and inclusive scientific ecosystem.
