Issue description

Dear Guests and Participants,

The Dr. António Agostinho Neto Central Hospital of Lubango has the honor of organizing the 1st Congress of Hospitals of the Southern Region of Angola, held in conjunction with the 1st Conference on Quality and the 1st Forum on Operational Scientific Research in Health.

“A Look at Innovation, Quality Management, and Operational Scientific Research in Health Organizations. Which Paths?” is the theme we have chosen, because “the vision of the National Health Development Plan (PNDS) frames health as an indispensable factor for the country’s overall development and social justice, promoting universal access to health care, ensuring equity in care delivery, improving management and financing mechanisms of the National Health System, and providing quality, timely, and humane services, with a view to combating poverty and strengthening population well-being.”

The creation of diverse teams with a broad, integrative vision of the challenges faced by populations and their communities requires a high level of organization and quality in public health-care institutions. This is only possible with adequately trained, well-prepared professionals who possess leadership capacity and are recognized by their peers as decision-makers and natural leaders. We aim to build a future grounded in sustainable health development, which necessarily involves “strengthening and building the capacity of the institutional framework of the National Health System, energizing workforce training policies, and fostering the active participation of local and regional administrations, communities, and families in the process of improving health” (PNDS 2012–2025).

This Congress will undoubtedly stand out for its high quality across multiple dimensions: the transmission of knowledge, the sharing of experiences, the dissemination of advances in diagnosis and therapy, collegial interaction, and constructive dialogue with all our partners. This first edition highlights the central role of participatory management in decision-making and clinical management, multidisciplinary collaboration, quality-oriented health-care planning, and the use of new technologies in service of patients.

The Organizing Committee anticipates six panels, sixteen plenary lectures, one inaugural lecture, and several scientific communications, including the presentation of scientific papers and the participation of national and international guests. Innovative and timely topics will be discussed, aimed at enhancing organizational and clinical management competencies among health professionals. We are confident that this will be an excellent scientific meeting and a welcoming forum for professional interaction, contributing to our overall development thanks to the invaluable support of our partners and sponsors who embraced this challenge.

Welcome to the 1st Congress of Hospitals of the Southern Region of Angola!
